When did you realize you were really in labor?
It was about midnight when I noticed my contractions getting closer together. The day before my contractions were on and off but never consistent. I got in the shower around 1:30 a.m. and I just knew it was time. I woke my husband up and called my doula.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing I faced was when my nurse insisted that I stop pushing when obviously my body knew it was time. She told me my cervix wasn't fulling gone but an hour or so before that she told me my cervix was very soft and as soon as my water breaks more than likely I would be ready to push. It makes me wonder if she just wanted me to wait long enough so the doctor could get there in time. Just makes me wonder!

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
For me the most helpful thing was to just learn how to breath and do your best to stay positive. Once in labor I remembered all those YouTube videos about hyhypbirthing and how they want you to breath. Once I got the breathing down its like the pain eased tremendously.

What surprised you about your birth?
Just the fact that after my water broke and transition took place the pain just disappeared. Its quite amazing how God designed us. We were meant for childbirthing! Another thing that surprised me was the fact that we arrived at the hospital around 2:30 a.m. and I was 3 cm. I had my precious baby at 6:03 a.m. and was back home at 3:00 p.m. that afternoon.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing worked for sure. Slow and low pitched. Breathing down past your stomach like your breathing the baby out.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
I was told to lay on the bed so they could check me and that's where I had to stay, unfortunately.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
To be honest I was a little shaken up. By no means was it because of my natural birth. More along the lines of the medical professionals I had to deal with. But once I calmed down I was amazed at the precious bundle of joy I just pushed out with no kinda medical intervention. She was so awake and alert.
