When did you realize you were really in labor?
I tried to assist inducing by taking castor oil, 8 hours later I started very mild contractions, at first I had a hard time identifying if they were truly contractions, but 12 hours later I hit my 4-1-1. I had been up contracting all through the night, stronger and closer together finally.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Near the end, my midwife realized that he was sideways and having a hard time clearing my pubic bone, her and the accompanying midwife had to help push him down as I was contracting and pushing, that was painful!

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I kept up yoga and walking all through pregnancy. With my yoga practice I was able to concentrate on quiet, deep breathing and focus through my contractions.

What surprised you about your birth?
The difficulty near the end, the exhaustion of both me and my baby... my midwife had to break his water for less compression. We really had to muscle through the end to get through his positioning.

It was an overwhelming feeling of relief! Love and great joy it was to finally hold my baby!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
The hot shower and the bath tub were both great reliefs. My husband helped relieve pain with pressure on my hips or rubbing my back.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I ended up delivering on our bed on my back, we wanted a water delivery but needed up having better progression in bed.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
It was an overwhelming feeling of relief! Love and great joy it was to finally hold my baby!

How did the Mama Natural Birth Class help you in your childbirth?
Mama Natural was very informative! My husband and I learned a lot! My husband was great at taking things through the BRAIN! He was especially good at supporting me through the 24 hours of contractions.
