When did you realize you were really in labor?
Around 7pm April 21st, about 22 hours before we’d meet our son.
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I did not go natural. This was my 3rd baby but first vaginal delivery. After being in labor for 12 hours and being at a 5 the pain I was experiencing in my c-section incision was strange and unbearable so I asked for an epidural.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Worked out, educated myself, lived on a birthing ball my last 4 weeks of pregnancy.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
The pain I felt in my incision. I had never heard anyone talk about that before when discussing their experience with a VBAC.
-
After 2 c-sections getting to hold my baby on my chest was everything I had dreamed of, even though I didn’t go natural like I had wanted.
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
Up until I got the epidural what worked for me was just riding the wave of the contraction, knowing it was going to end and having slow and controlled breaths.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Magical. After 2 c-sections getting to hold my baby on my chest was everything I had dreamed of, even though I didn’t go natural like I had wanted.
-
What did you name your baby, and why?
Noah. He is our double rainbow baby and when my husband and I were going through our miscarriages we often looked to the olive branch because of the sign of life and hope and God keeping His promises. And while God never promised to give us another baby it was just a good way for us to reflect on His character.

How did the Mama Natural Birth Class help you in your childbirth?
Opened my eyes to truth of giving birth in America, taught me things I was not aware of like all the different positions baby can be in in the birthing canal, coping mechanisms for pain, great mindsets to have during the pain, great ways to prepare for birth.
