Watching Videos And Reading Stories Of Going Natural Helped Lindsey During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

The morning before I went into labor I noticed a bloody show. I got really excited because I felt like today would be the day I get to meet my second child (we did a surprise gender). I started getting contractions every 20 min or
So. Very mild. This went on for till about noon. I went on doing my
Normal routine. Did some light cleaning and took care of my toddler. I was exactly 40 weeks to the day. At about 3:00 my contractions were getting
Close and starting to get more intense. I still wasn't uncomfortable at all. I decided to rest and waited for m husband to get home from work. At about 5:00 we
    Dropped our daughter off
At my parents and drove to the hospital. I wasn't in any pain at all but the contractions were steady coming at 5 min apart.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

I watched videos, reads stories, and watched documentaries on natural childbirth. I just kept telling myself I could and I would. It was mind over matter for me.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

I was surprised how well I handled my contractions. I only experienced about 10 mins of contractions toward the very end that were so bad I thought to myself if I wasn't dilated enough i would have to get an epidural because I didn't know if I could handle hours of contractions that intense.

  • You just have to keep telling yourself it's something you can do and will.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

My husband rubbing my back and me leaning on him and also the jetted tub at the hospital.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    On my back

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

It was surreal. The most wonderful moment ever. Nothing can beat that feeling. We had a surprise gender and my husband and I didn't even check to see for a good 5 min because we were in awe of everything that had just happened and we were just taking in that miracle that we experienced. I was also very proud of myself for going all natural too. I felt so empowered that me she my baby did it and my body and baby knew what to do.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

You just have to keep telling yourself it's something you can do and will.
