When did you realize you were really in labor?
I had contractions for 3 nights in a row about 20 min apart. When I woke up that last day they continued around 3 every hour. At about 7pm they started getting closer and more intense and I was just like alright I guess this is the real thing!

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I would say it's having to constantly say no to pain medication. My doctor unfortunately made it as hard as he could for me to go all natural. Next time I will absolutely opt for a midwife!

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I watched mama naturals videos! And I talked to everyone I could that had done it naturally. Its so motivating to hear that women CAN do it, and we're made to do it!
-
What surprised you about your birth?
It seemed really fast, and I have to think it's because I refused pain medication and I stayed at home until I was 7cm dialated.

Know that you can do it. Anyone can do it. Be open minded in case something happens that puts you or baby in danger.. but if everyone is healthy then just know our bodies were made for this!
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
I liked being on my hands and knees, and having my husband next to me with a cold washcloth and ice chips!
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
My doctor was very old school and made me lie on my back. I wasn't in a position I felt like I could say no, but next time I will! I would have much preferred to stay in my hands and knees.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Unreal. It really felt like a total miracle!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Know that you can do it. Anyone can do it. Be open minded in case something happens that puts you or baby in danger.. but if everyone is healthy then just know our bodies were made for this!
