When did you realize you were really in labor?
When my water broke at 8:30 PM!

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
It was a mental battle for me. I knew my body was created to do it, but I also knew the pain could be taken away in a matter of minutes by getting an epidural. It was so hard to stay focused on allowing my body to do what it was created to do.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Watch birthing videos and read articles about what to expect. Also drinking red raspberry leaf tea during my third trimester. I think that really helped with contractions and not tearing!!
-
What surprised you about your birth?
As soon as she came out, the pain was gone. I couldn’t believe how quickly I “forgot” about the pain of contractions after I held my baby in my arms and labor and delivery was finally over. I was also surprised by how tired and weak I felt after each of my early contractions. I didn’t think I was going to be able to do it because I felt so tired, but then it was like my body just took over and did what it was supposed to do.
