When did you realize you were really in labor?
When my water broke! I got up in the middle of the night thinking I needed to poop - then I stood up & felt a leak. On the toilet I continued to leak & very soon the contractions started.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Managing the pain through some of the more intense contractions.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Visualization! I would imagine a flower opening - or the baby movimg down the birth canal. I even had dreams practicing this!!

What surprised you about your birth?
How incredibly fast it happened-- 3 hours from start to finish. I held my legs together in the car & we barely had enough time to fill the tub at the birth center!!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
You can do it!!! Invest time, energy, and funds into preparation- it is one of the most important event in your life & your baby's...take classes, read books, talk to women who have experienced it, ask questions at your prenatal appointments, and choose a birth environment that will fully support your choices.
