Trusting Herself Helped Rochelle During Her Homebirth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

    3:30am, contractions 10 minutes apart.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

    It was a very fast & intense labor this time around. Nothing helped ease the pain.

    Trust myself.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    How different it was from the first!

  • YOU GOT THIS!! I do wish I had prepared myself with more internal tools! I went into both labors on sheer will power & magic ;] it was perfect for the first time, but the second was more intense & I think internal tools to deal with the intensity would have been helpful!
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    This time around, nothin'! I enjoyed being in the water, but it didn't really help relieve the pain. The most helpful thing for me was having my partner nearby & holding my hand.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    On a birthing stool.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    I was so tired that I mostly felt a blurry relief. I thought I would cry for joy with both, but the exhaustion clouded my emotions!

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
