Taking the Bradley Method Class and Hiring a Doula Helped Lynsey During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

    I was induced at 41 weeks and 5 days.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

    The most challenging thing about not getting an epidural was that I had over a 20 hour labor and was on pitocin for about 14 hours. I was in transition for what seemed to be about 10 hours.

    Taking the bradley method class and hiring a doula.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    I was surprised that I didn't go into labor on my own and that my labor lasted so long.

  • It was an out of the world experience. I will never forget what it felt like to have those big blue eyes looking at me. For the first few days, I could not think of this moment without crying.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    Having my doula press firmly on my lower back with tennis balls and my husband hug me and remind me how to breathe and relax my shoulders.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    I was laying down inclined on my bed with my legs pulled up.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    It was an out of the world experience. I will never forget what it felt like to have those big blue eyes looking at me. For the first few days, I could not think of this moment without crying.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

    Get educated and get a doula
