When did you realize you were really in labor?
I realized when I was having menstrual like cramps and bloody show. I have to say, I didn't expect bloody show to be so....bloody. lol! It was as if I started my menstrual cycle.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Keeping my mind in check. Keeping focused on each phase and breathing through it.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Taking Mama Natural Child Birthing class was one of the most beneficial things we invested in. Because of the class, I knew exactly where I was in labor at every moment. I wasn't scared being it was my first labor. The class made me so prepared it was as if I had done it before.

What surprised you about your birth?
The pain. I was expecting the absolute worst pain of my life. It was not at all as painful. My back injury a year ago was far worse.

It helped in every way. Especially since I have never been in labor before. It prepared me mentally. Not only did it prepare me but it also prepared my husband. He wasn't as terrified as he thought. We both were shocked at how labor actually went.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Aromatherapy and movement. Hip rotations were great. We opted for a water birth, the warmth of the water felt nice.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I ended up on a birthing stool in a squatted position. The warm water was making me too relaxed so my contractions started slowing a little bit.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
SURREAL. No other word to describe it.

How did the Mama Natural Birth Class help you in your childbirth?
