When did you realize you were really in labor?
I didn’t realize I was in labor until it was a few hours in. I had had back pain and contractions that it started and stopped a few days leading up to the birth. So when I got contractions and back pain I assumed they would stop again. I knew it was the real thing around 12 AM and he was born at 4:41 .

Got educated! My husband and I took the mama natural birth course which we found really informative. I had great prenatal visits with my midwife. And I just read as much as I could about natural childbirth. I also really enjoyed watching natural childbirth videos.

How intense it was but also how neat it was that at the moment I felt like I really couldn’t do it anymore I was pulling my baby up to me!

My husband and I learned a lot of things about childbirth that we did not know. It was a really easy way to get educated about natural childbirth and learn about different interventions and options. Really like that it was easy to sit down and watch the videos for an hour at a time.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Our doula brought a TENS machine, it completely took away my back pain!

What position did you end up delivering in?
On my back. Probably the position I expected to be in the least. My baby was head up so the midwife said this would give me the most room to get him through the pelvis.
