When did you realize you were really in labor?
9 pm the night before I knew I was in labor. My contractions were consistently and 10 minutes apart. I didn't fully accept it though until they got stronger and closer.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The only thing that was challenging about going natural would have to have been the fear of if I can do it. But knowing the side affects to the baby and myself o knew it wasn't an option to do it any other way!

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I took Bradley method classes, read Ina Mays guide to child birth and Well Adjusted Babies. Those three educated me the most on the process of labor and mostly what I can expect before during and after.

What surprised you about your birth?
What surprised me the most was the long stage of early labor. That was probably the toughest part, I was in early labor for 15 hours! Once I transitioned baby came 4 hours later.

It is the most amazing experience ever. You can do it. Trust your body, it was made to do this. It's an awesome feeling to be fully present and not have anything hindering your perception of the birthing process!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
The birthing tub was an amazing thing! It helped so much with the pain. Along with counter pressure from my husband and the midwives.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I was on all fours in the birthing tub

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
I felt relieved. My husband was more emotional at this point than I was. I eventually got there but I was very exhausted!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
