When did you realize you were really in labor?
When my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart and everyone around me was telling me it was real. I even asked the nurse if my contractions were real.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Surrendering to my body. It knew what it was doing and I was just along for the ride and it was a little bit frightening bc I couldn’t stop it and just needed to trust and work with it.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Surround myself with positive people who knew what I wanted. Taking the class to empower myself to know that I could do this.

What surprised you about your birth?
How fast it went. They say second births are faster but from time I set foot into hospital to time she was born was less than an hour.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Really trying to focus on the fact that it wouldn’t last forever and to take it one contraction at a time. Also I kept telling myself that I was ok and I could do it.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I ended up having a water birth. At first, I thought I would just use the tub for pain relief but baby wanted to come as soon as I got into the tub and I needed to push.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Amazing, relief, indescribable

Gave me the knowledge and tools to know I could do this and to trust in myself.
