Birth Stories

Stephanie's Fast Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

    I was induced

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

Being in the hospital and attached to monitors/iv and not having much freedom of movement

  • WP_20151020_011
  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Pray, and surrender my birth to God

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    How fast it was

  • You can do it, even in less than ideal circumstances, and the most important thing to remember is to surrender to the contractions, not fight against them
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

The birth ball was a lifesaver. I spent 4½ hours on it.
Also purposefully relaxing/surrendering to each contraction and trying to mentally allow the baby to come down

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

On my back, but only because they were checking me when I realized I had to push, and I didn't have time to switch positions

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    Amazing

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

You can do it, even in less than ideal circumstances, and the most important thing to remember is to surrender to the contractions, not fight against them
