When did you realize you were really in labor?
After my water broke at 3am my contractions changed. They got more intense and more regular.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
That I had a VBAC and a very big baby (10lbs).

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
To believe in my ability and to believe in my body.

What surprised you about your birth?
The intensity of pain and that my baby was that big. My midwife never told me before giving birth the measures of my baby and I am very thankful for that. Maybe I would have been much more frightened or would never have tried VBAC.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Changing positions.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Half lying, half sitting and holding my legs up high while pushing.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
It felt like this was supposed to be exactly this way. With my first daughter I had a C-Section with general and saw her the first time 2 hours after she was born. When I hold my second baby the first time in my arms, I could not stop thinking, how wonderful and perfect she was and that this was exactly the right way to be born.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Start believing, that your body was made to do this. I gave birth naturally without any medications after C-Section to a very big baby and there were moments, when I thought, I can´t go any further, but I could. No contraction and no pain was bigger than I am. I got through this and it was worth it. I felt so powerful and strong afterwards and this Empowerment helped me a lot starting in my second parenthood.
