When did you realize you were really in labor?
I had woken up to get some orange juice to ward off the cold my husband had and as soon as I took a sip, I was experiencing a discomfort that I hadn't before and my contracstions became predictable.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Having to advocate for my goals and desire for a natural birth. Thankfully, it turned out that I didn't have to fight for a natural birth - the hospital birthing team was 100% accommodating.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Research, books and blogs! I love information and crave knowledge especially for a life change - I enjoyed the MamaNatural weekly pregnancy updates, RealFood Liz and KellyMom.

What surprised you about your birth?
That I did it! I had a quick labor and my body just did what it was made to do - it was amazing to experience my body in that way!

Trust your body, educate your partner and have confidence in your doctor/birthing team.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
I didn't utilize a lot of the pain management strategies that I had researched since my labor and contractions were very quick. However, in transition, back counter pressure helped immensely!

What position did you end up delivering in?
Hands and knees!

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Absolutely surreal. I couldn't believe I had the birth I envisioned and that my son was finally here!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Trust your body, educate your partner and have confidence in your doctor/birthing team.
