When did you realize you were really in labor?
I woke up with contractions at 11:45pm and I KNEW they were real. They were 6 min apart. I waited for them to continue at that frequency for 30 min before deciding to head to the hospital.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Trusting myself prior to labor beginning. I hoped I wouldn't end up with complications that would have me in intense pain that I couldn't handle-prior to reaching the point where complications would have been resolved.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
My mantra to prepare and my focal point during labor was "my body is made for this". So I just repeated it any time I had doubts. As well as through the contractions.

What surprised you about your birth?
What I was most amazed by with my first birth experience was that I was able to have a natural birth without having planned it. (I had an iv drug instead of epidural.) so this time I attempted without even the Iv drug and I did it!'

Just trust yourself, trust your partner and trust whatever you believe in. And you'll come through!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
I didn't have any. I just breathed through contractions and pushing. At the very end, the pushing pain was so intense( to get her shoulders out) I decided to give it to God and choose to forget the pain (dr said I was tearing) so mentally I "gave the pain up to Him" and in that moment she arrived! It was over!

What position did you end up delivering in?
I was on my back in a hospital bed

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Amazing!! It made all the pain so worth it!!!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
As a woman, you were designed for childbirth. Anyone who wasn't should probably opt for pain meds (Bc they won't survive! HAHA!) but you CAN do this! Just trust yourself, trust your partner and trust whatever you believe in. And you'll come through! No matter what it will end. It's not going to last forever. So make it worth it:) (ok the baby makes it worth it but you know what I mean)
