When did you realize you were really in labor?
I realized I was in labor when a contraction woke me up at 1:30 in the morning and then I had six more contractions by 1:55 am!

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Transition was the most challenging thing about going natural. I got stuck in a position that wasn't really working for me but I didn't want to move. And then I was scared to push. I was very emotional and somewhat irrational at this stage! Haha

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
The most helpful thing I did in preparation was reading positive birth stories and birth affirmations.

What surprised you about your birth?
I was surprised by how emotional I was this time compared to my previous labors. My emotions were very intense and heightened, especially in transition.

Movement, vocalizations, thinking of my birth affirmations, clinging to my husband and prayer.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Side lying.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Amazing! We have two boys. We had been praying for our baby girl for years. Then last year, we had a miscarriage, so our first baby girl is also our rainbow baby. ❤ My first words as I held her were "Oh baby girl, I have waited so long for you!" #worththewait

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Read positive birth stories. Believe in yourself and your body. Learn about as many comfort measures as you can-- you never know what will help you in the moment!
