When did you realize you were really in labor?
I realized I was in labor when I woke up at 2:30am and my water broke! Contractions started shortly after that.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing for me about going all natural was making sure I was mentally prepared. I trusted my body and knew my body would know exactly what do to, but having the mental power to get through it was the biggest challenge not allowing my mind and thoughts to over power my bodies natural ability.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Reading as much information as possible about how to mentally let go during labor. What also helped was reading other women's experiences and what techniques helped them.

What surprised you about your birth?
My birth went extremely well and it was everything I could have wanted it to be. I was so surprised by how in touch I was at every moment. It was a much more satisfying experience than with my first child, with whom I received an epidural.

It's all about mind over matter!! Believing in yourself and trusting your body are the best pieces of advice I can give. It's 90% mental and only 10% physical in my opinion.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
To help with the pain, massage was what worked best for me. Between my husband and my doula, they really helped me stay focused and relaxed.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I went between being on all fours, then switching from side to side with the peanut ball. I ultimately pushed and delivered while lying on my side.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Words can not explain what it felt to hold my son for the first time. This experience was much more fulfilling than with my first and the emotions were much stronger.
