When did you realize you were really in labor?
After my water broke. It was 6am, in bed, and Hurricane Irma was approaching!
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Being mentally strong and sound. We planned on a birth center but due to the storm, we had to change our plans and be in the hospital. It was a major challenge emotionally. We'd dreamed of a calm, quiet birth center with our amazing midwives. The hurricane and baby had other plans! It was also a challenge and even a fight with the hospital staff sometimes to stay natural!

Read, eat healthy, take care of my body, and read some more. I read anything I could get my hands on regarding natural childbirth, including your book!

What surprised you about your birth?
Back labor. Not a fun surprise! Also, that my body truly led the way and the pain was non-existent the moment she was born. Love and oxytocin completely takes over! Wow!

My boyfriend doing counterpressure saved me. He pressed so hard on my lower back during contractions. I actually had bruises later on!

Sitting slightly upright on my back, my feet on pedestals.
