When did you realize you were really in labor?
When my water broke while I was using the restroom at 2:30 AM!

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I did get an epidural at 9 cm, the challenging part was the fear of the pain. It was not as bad as I thought though, I focused on breathing and trying to keep my muscles relaxed.

Read as much as I could about birth and watch a few YouTube videos .

What surprised you about your birth?
From when my water broke to when he arrived was a total of 12 hours. It went much quicker than I thought and I handled the pain much better than I thought I would. I was scared of the pain prior to when labor started so I think I doubted myself some.

It felt surreal, I remember seeing him for the first time and couldn’t believe he was really here. Holding him while he was screaming my heart was just so full for this little human I just met.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing through the contractions is what worked for me.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I delivered lying in my back, I did end up getting an epidural at 9 cm.

It felt surreal, I remember seeing him for the first time and couldn’t believe he was really here. Holding him while he was screaming my heart was just so full for this little human I just met.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Do your research. Have a great support system. Know that you can do anything you set your mind to!
