When did you realize you were really in labor?
I was induced at 40+11 so I went into hospital and had prostin gel, waters broken and then a drip of syntocinon. The contractions started easily and built up quite quickly.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I was determined to avoid an epidural and a c-section, but the thoughts were in my head because I knew and was told that induction made the contractions feel stronger and more difficult to cope with. I fought to keep my mind focused and relaxed through deep breathing and visualization.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Reading birth stories and practicing yoga.

I was surprised at my own strength.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Deep breathing and the gas & air. A heat pack on my lower back also helped a lot.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Kneeling, leaning over the back of the birthing bed.

Overwhelming, amazing, the best moment ever!
