When did you realize you were really in labor?
My water broke around 11:30 am but it took about 30 minutes for contractions to start. At that point I had a good idea my baby was coming that day.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
This is my 3rd natural birth and each one is so different. The intensity of the contractions and the feel of the baby coming out is something you you forget until it's here. It's tough but all worth it.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Just pray a lot before and during.

What surprised you about your birth?
With my second, pushing was not that hard but with the third I felt the baby ready to come out but I just didn't feel the urge to push. So I just had to find the strength deep inside to push her out!

It's tough work but it's worth it. Our bodies were made to handle labor and delivery. Being able to move freely, deliver in a comfortable position and be free of side effects post delivery (for mom and baby) are great benefits.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Leaning on my husband and holding on to him, mostly while standing but it felt best to lean forward on him or on furniture.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Kneeling upright and in the water.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
She was not breathing right away so it was extremely scary but within a minute I heard her cry and felt so much relief.
I was just so happy that she was here and she was ok.
