Praying a Lot and Focusing On Positive Affirmations Helped Kayla During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

My water broke on Saturday night March 25 at 39 weeks 6 days but 24 hours later labor still hadn't started so my planned home birth turned into a hospital birth. It still turned out wonderfully though!

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

The most challenging thing was accepting the pain and allowing my body to give into each progression.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

I prayed a lot and focused on positive affirmations. I also read many helpful tips and personal experiences.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

I was most surprised by the fact by body knew exactly what it was doing.

  • You can do it. There will be moments where you may not think you can, but you CAN. Try to prepare yourself mentally before hand more than anything. Also walk a lot and try and keep yourself at peace.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Breathing through, low moaning and my husband putting pressure on my back.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

I was on my back with my legs pulled up to my chest but I was in many other positions while laboring.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

Indescribable. He is our rainbow baby and we have prayed for him for a long time.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

You can do it. There will be moments where you may not think you can, but you CAN. Try to prepare yourself mentally before hand more than anything. Also walk a lot and try and keep yourself at peace.
