When did you realize you were really in labor?
I was almost 42 weeks so my midwives set me up with a labor inducing cocktail. I took it Saturday morning and when my boyfriend walked in the door from work at 5:55 pm I began having contractions.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
My son was posterior and trying to come out eyebrows first so his head was stuck in my back and after 12 hours of laboring at the birthing center I was transferred to the hospital where they allowed me to labor with pitocin and an epidural for about nine hours before a cesarian was necessary.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Practiced breathing down. It really helps with bowel movements as well, hehe.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
That I was unable to deliver my baby naturally, his poor head was not going to make it out safely after hours of pushing with no results but a swollen cervix.
-
Words cannot describe. Even though I wasn't able to hold him until fifteen minutes post operation, he latched on to my breast perfectly.
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
The birthing tub was amazing, as was laying on my boyfriends chest. Until the hospital of course.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
On my back in the operation room.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Words cannot describe. Even though I wasn't able to hold him until fifteen minutes post operation, he latched on to my breast perfectly.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Always prepare for a plan B, just in case your body or baby are not obeying your wishes. I had only packed a few things for the birthing center visit that lasts 5 hours after birth, but ended up staying in the hospital for 5 days.
