When did you realize you were really in labor?
At first I didn't know I was really in labor. My water broke at 4 am on November 16th and I thought I just tinkled! After that I had no contractions or real labor pains or anything. I began to notice more and more amiotic fluid continued coming out through out that day then I knew it was finally time.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing about going natural at first was to endure those hours of never ending pain. Then I unfortunately couldn't make it through because I was not dilating enough from 1cm to only 3cm for 36 hours, then a c-section decision was made.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
The most helpful thing I did to prepare for childbirth was packing that hospital bag! Although last minute, I did this the night before my water broke. How convenient that turned out to be.

What surprised you about your birth?
I was surprised how my body wasn't able to give birth vaginally but surprised me even more was how stubborn my baby girl was. Throughout my whole pregnancy she would not stop moving then when birthday came she decided to relax.

If you want to go natural I would recommend exercising a lot. I'm talking squats, pelvic exercises and walking. Giving birth ain't a cake walk! So your body needs to be highly prepared for all the work your muscles are going to be doing.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
I liked the hot pack on my lower back for pain relief . Besides rolling my hips while standing bent over, no other position helped.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I gave a cesarean birth.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
After not seeing her right away because of my c section, I wanted to cry to finally hold her in my arms. She gave me so much happiness that I forgot all the pain I felt prior to her being there.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
If you want to go natural I would recommend exercising a lot. I'm talking squats, pelvic exercises and walking. Giving birth ain't a cake walk! So your body needs to be highly prepared for all the work your muscles are going to be doing.
