When did you realize you were really in labor?
Since this was my second birth I realized a lot sooner. I was watching Inside out with my almost 3yr old and around 6-7pm,I could feel the little contractions coming and going within 15-20min apart. I knew It had to be the night, especially since my my mucus plug seemed to come out earlier that day. (We were a the zoo, walking and walking and walking.)

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing i would say about going natural is turning your brain off and just letting your body do what it needs to do. Just breathing through them. The thought that in one sole minute it will pass, and then given a recovery minute was what i looked forward to each time. The heavenly moment you get to catch up with the wave flowing through. Isnt it funny. The hardest thing to do is relax. RELAX! haha.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
The most helpful thing I did to prepare for childbirth was sleep in between every contraction. Even if it was only 3-5 minutes in between. Every one of those moments prepared me with all the energy I needed to help with my labor.

What surprised you about your birth?
The most surprising thing about giving birth this second time around was that he came out exactly on his due date and how easy it was from contractions to delivery. How in tune my body was to having this baby.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing in and breathing out and letting your contraction do what its meant to do, overtake your body for that brief moment instead of fighting it.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
I ended up delivering on my back in the birth pool. The previous time it was on my hands and knees, but Luke did not want to come out the same way his brother did.. lol

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
I felt so grateful and appreciative.. I felt the grace of God the entire time casting any fear I had prior. A deep fog formed outside the chilly November morning wrapping my mind at ease just for MY moment.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
My advice for other mothers is to not let fear overcome your faith in what you believe is best and that the hardest part is letting your body have that contraction without fighting it. Instead, let it flow through you for its moment and realizing you get what you give.
