When did you realize you were really in labor?
It was about 10 pm. I had been having Braxton Hicks for a few hours, then out of nowhere they turned PAINFUL.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Honestly it was trying to find a good position that put the pressure in the right place. On my back just wasn't doing it. I eventually ended up on my hands and knees on the bed.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I think it was really mental. Reminding myself that as important as the birth itself is, its such a tiny portion of having a baby. There's so much more to it. Don't focus on the pain, focus on whats going to come after cause its so worth it!

What surprised you about your birth?
It went FAST! 2 hours and 48 min total from start of contractions to birth.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing of course but really it was the whole thing, my hubby was awesome, the nurses were awesome and the midwife was amazing! They talked to me and kept me calm and focused. They also made me laugh which helped alot.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Hands and knees. It just felt right.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Oh my, she came out and i scooped her up. Suddenly there was no pain, there were no people, it was just me and her. I had a huge sense of relief and an overwhelming amount of joy. And a huge adrenaline rush. Suddenly i was wide awake. My hubby and 17 month old watched the birth, and my next thought was them. They came to me and it was an awesome moment.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Just do it! Dont be scared! Listen to your body. It knows what to do. Everything will be great!
