When did you realize you were really in labor?
I didn't go into labor naturally. I was overdue and my doctor at the time made me feel like induction was the only answer. So I went to the hospital early.
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I researched day and night about natural birth and was so determined to go natural. I was induced and was bouncing away on the ball and was not progressing. My doctor felt it was time to break my water. After that, the pain intensified by 100 along with increasing pitocin. It felt like an out of body experience and was pressured to get pain relief. My next labor will definitely be in a birthing center geared more for natural births.

The daily stretches, specific diet, and daily massages helped tremendously.

What surprised you about your birth?
My baby latched on minutes after birth and I knew that breastfeeding was going to be the best experience ever. We are still going strong one year later.

You are stronger than you know.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
My husband was a great massager.

What position did you end up delivering in?
In a hospital bed lying on my back. It was the worst experience and took over and hour with an episiotomy and all.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Pure magic. The best felling in my life.
