When did you realize you were really in labor?
I noticed contractions at 11:30am, but didn't know it was labor til about 2 or 3pm when they got to be 5 mins apart.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing was waiting to be completely dilated. It wasn't all that fun sitting through those contractions 1 min apart and not being able to do anything about it cuz i still had some of my cervix left on the right side before I could push.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Most helpful thing I thought to prepare was mentally telling myself I could do it, that i was strong enough to get through it, and just thinking of the end result.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
What surprised me was how quick and easy it was. Once I was ready to push, it went so smooth and he was here in 20 minutes.

If you want to go natural, stick to your guns. It is not as bad as a lot of people make it seem.
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
Deep breathing in and out since I denied pain medication.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
I was laying down with my head sort of tilted up.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
It was truly amazing. To feel his warmth and his heartbeat was the best thing I could ever imagine. It is really unexplainable how I felt because there are no words for such a perfect thing.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
If you want to go natural, stick to your guns. It is not as bad as a lot of people make it seem. I had a moment of weakness where I thought about getting the meds, but I said "no, that's not what I wanted to do, im doing it how I planned." If you want to do natural, go for it. It was the best decision I could have made.
