When did you realize you were really in labor?
At about 11:30 pm I felt a lot of pressure and tightening that did not go away with a hot shower.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing was dealing with one nurse who was not okay with me refusing an IV. It was a blessing in the end because I got a new nurse that was amazing through my labor.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Mental preparation, just making the decision to begin with and sticking with it and telling myself everyday "you can do this, you will do this"

What surprised you about your birth?
When it was all over my sisters said "that was a really hard labor" but I didn't feel that way I guess I had nothing to compare it to so I was surprised that they thought it was so hard. At a certain point your body just takes over and you just do what you have to, to help your body do its thing.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
There is a pressure point on your foot. Every time I had a contractions my sisters would push on that pressure point, it was amazing and took the edge off.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I was on my hands and knees most of the time hugging the bed. It was amazing, at the very last second I turned on my back and pushed the baby out.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
It was amazing and exhausting. I could not believe that this had all happened and that this little boy had came from me!!

How did the Mama Natural Birth Class help you in your childbirth?
Mainly the encouragement, not many people are on board about natural unmediated child birth so the more I could soak in from the supporters the better! During birth I thought of every single bit of advice from everyone ever that was encouraging it really helped me to get through it.
