When did you realize you were really in labor?
In the afternoon when my water broke, I realized all the "cramps" I was having all morning were really contractions

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The most challenging thing about going natural was in transition trying to breath and relax my pelvic, everything wanted to tighten up. The contractions took my breath away so it was very hard to breath through it.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I took the Mama Natural Birthing Class, along with affirmation cards and reading a book on hypnobirthing

What surprised you about your birth?
It surprised me how quickly everything progressed for a first birth, as well as how connected I felt to my body. I was able to really listen to what my body needed to do and trust my instincts

It's so easy to tense up when in so much pain but keep telling yourself over and over to relax and let your body do the work. Your body is amazing and knows how to get the baby out just remember that and trust.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Using the bath tub, having calming music and Sims lights, also using essential oils around the room and on my body.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I ended up deliver on my back with my husband behind me and me holding my own legs up.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
It was completely surreal to hold my baby for the first time. He came out so calm and peaceful not one cry, and they just left him on my chest for over an hour to acclimate to the world around him.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
I had an amazing experience having a natural birth, always listen to your body and stay calm and relaxed while in labor. It's so easy to tense up when in so much pain but keep telling yourself over and over to relax and let your body do the work. Your body is amazing and knows how to get the baby out just remember that and trust.
