When did you realize you were really in labor?
Not until I had almost entered transition, as funny as that sounds! I'd been having mild contractions for days so I had sort of fallen into feeling it would never actually happen!
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Standing our ground with the doctors. I already felt so vulnerable, I was thankful we had a firm birth plan and my husband was our advocate. (Although we knew things can change it helped to have a solid plan to begin with).

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
The Mama Natural Birth Course! But really, it is AWESOME. So thankful especially for the circumcision information also!
-
What surprised you about your birth?
How fast transition came on, it felt like a freight train!

Have a plan, and know your reasons why you made that plan. And really have support, be it your partner or a doula. My husband was my support and he really was a lifeline in helping me keep on track and encouraging me when I didn't think I could do it. He even reminded me to ride the waves with Jesus!
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing, holding my husbands hand and moaning, sometimes pretty loudly! Also closing my eyes through breathing, it helped shut out all the distractions so I could get though the moment.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
On my back, which wasn't my plan but it actually felt like the best at the time. I was thankful for the position when they had to reach in and turn my second twin before I pushed her out!
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Completely surreal, I remember looking at them and really feeling like "where did you come from?!". It's so incredible that they had been growing inside me, two perfect tiny humans!
