When did you realize you were really in labor?
I wasn’t quite sure at first. My midwife gave me castor oil due to me being 41 weeks and 5 days. So I wasn’t sure if it was just the castor oil or castor oil taking effect plus contractions. However, at 5:00 pm pains started to come.

I wasn’t expecting my contractions to be so intense so quickly. It was like zero to a hundred in 10 minutes.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Making sure the baby was in the right position. Lots of yoga and just making sure I was sitting in a good position always. As well as eating dates and red raspberry leaf tea. I believe all those preparations made my labor super fast.

What surprised you about your birth?
How intense it was so quick. I prepared myself for a 24 hr labor but when my labor was only 2 hrs I wasn’t prepared for the intensity. The contractions were on top of each other with no breaks pretty much right from the start.

How did the Mama Natural Birth Class help you in your childbirth?
Just information!!!! Seeing the live birth videos was super informative. I think just knowing what to expect and how to potentially cope with it was the most valuable tool. Also the affirmation cards actually were super helpful. I tried to recall as many of those as I could while in transition.
