When did you realize you were really in labor?
Saturday november 5th at 6 in the momorng.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Focusing on breathing. I found it very hard to draw breath while in the throws of a contraction. she also ended up coming out ear up and didn't twist in delivery to fit better because she was tangled in her cord.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Magnesium with silica, evening prim rose, red raspberry leaf tea, and walking every day. Nothing truly prepares you, all you can know is that every child born naturally is born similarly. There will always be the unknown factor, but we face it together. Be sure to have a good support team. Mine was my husband Scott, mother Peggy and doula Fonta.

What surprised you about your birth?
That the last minute my daughter turned, and her head came out sideways, left ear up to be exact. Such a tiny delecate baby and yet her position almost exhausted me to the verge of going to the hospital.
As she landed on my chest it was as if i watched her soul connect to her tiny body, i realized she was not just another part of me but an entirely separate human being.

Have people who you trust there with you. Have your birth in a place you truly feel comfortable.
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
Cleansing breath's, acupressure with holding combs pressed into my palms helped for dilation contractions. Holding onto my husband was my only true comfort during active labor.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
Sitting up in the birthing tub, hands and knees was too powerful a push for her postition, and having bad knees added to my discomfort. I braced my feet up on either side of the tub for added leverage.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Unreal... There isnt a word beautiful or sacred enough to describe that feeling.
-
What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Support, location, and energy. Have people who you trust there with you. Have your birth in a place you truly feel comfortable. Bring high energy snacks, i thought my birth center would feed me more than they did. I was completely unprepared.
Even if you just bring a jar of honey and labor aid it will help.
My labor aid is what got me through.
Lime aid and coconut water, add salt and maple syrup for an extra power boost.
