When did you realize you were really in labor?
That morning around 9 am. I would ve realized it sooner but was in disbelief because I was only 34 weeks.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
To be honest I'm one of those weird people who wanted to really feeel the sensations of the baby moving in my pelvis. And it all happened so fast I didn't really have time to want it any other way.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Lots of Pilates, working on activation and especially relaxation of my pelvic floor. Lots of reading (how to have an orgasmic birth, ina may, etc)

What surprised you about your birth?
That it happened at 34 weeks!

Take the time to prepare while pregnant. Hire a doula. Do pilates or yoga. Wall sits for 1-2 minutes are helpful Read birth stories guided meditations or hypnobirthing are helpful. Get to know your pelvic floor-intimately. Learn how to relax, this is key for phase one of labor!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Getting in the tub, deep breathing, essential oils, holding/squeezing my partner and doulas hands.

What position did you end up delivering in?
On my side with my doula holding my top leg. Was trying for hands and knees but they couldn't find the heart rate in that position and had me switch.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
So amazing! To know he was ok was such a relief. And I couldn't believe how handsome he was!
