Listening To Her Body and Praying a Lot Helped Rocio During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

I was actually induced, but definitely knew I was in labor come Monday morning when I couldn't talk through a contraction.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

For me it honestly was the pushing. I pushed for an hour and 33 minutes. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

I just listened to my body and prayed a LOT.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    How emotionally strong I am.

  • Words cannot being to describe what my heart felt. I still sit here looking at her and my heart just feels whole. So much love and happy tears.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

For me it was the epidural. My doctor encouraged me. Told me "you're getting a baby not a trophy"

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

At the end of the bed. I think I was on my back and I pushed sitting on my tailbone!!!

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

Words cannot being to describe what my heart felt. I still sit here looking at her and my heart just feels whole. So much love and happy tears.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

Listen to your body and if you're getting the epidural get as much sleep while you're in labor. I had so much family in and out I couldn't get much rest. I almost gave up an hour in of pushing cause I was so exhausted.
