When did you realize you were really in labor?
I am a doula and birth junkie, and had given birth before, so I knew when I was in active labor. I was 41 and carrying someone else's baby, so they induced me with cervidil. I allowed that. LOL

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Chiropractor, prenatal yoga, and natural childbirth classes.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
How amazing it felt, and the absolute high I got. It carries on in your everyday life, like you are a superhero. I would do that 100 times if I could.

I carried this baby for a friend, yet it was still the second best feeling in my life next to holding my own child.
-
What pain relief strategies worked best?
Dancing, rocking, lunges, and humming. Honestly knowing what contractions were doing, and why they were hurting and KNOWING that it WILL end did it as well.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
On my right side.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
I carried this baby for a friend, yet it was still the second best feeling in my life next to holding my own child. So much was different with this birth than with my own baby and knowing so much more made it feel even more awesome! I couldn't have planned a more perfect pregnancy, labor, and birth. She is my most favorite story to tell.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Education, education, education. A doula or provider that knows things and wants to actually help you labor is a must. You can not watch birthing videos two days before birth and understand what you need to do, you must start early in pregnancy and try them all, becasue you never know what will work for you.
