When did you realize you were really in labor?
It was 4:30 AM and I just couldn’t get comfortable and kept having to pee. At about 5:30 AM I called my midwife to let her know I thought it was time for them to head on over.
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I think it’s the mental aspect. We are taught that birth is painful and although it can be uncomfortable, it is not unnecessary pain.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Hypnobirthing truly helped me channel my inner strength for both of my home births as well as keeping a safe positive birth space and not allowing negativity.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
I was so surprised how quickly she came! By the time my contractions were in full force, it was about 5:45/6 AM and I had her at 7:12 AM!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Swaying back and forth, my homeopathic birth kit & my midwife applying pressure to my hips.
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
I was honestly in shock because I was planning to have her in the tub like I did with her sister but so thankful she was in my arms!
-
What did you name your baby, and why?
Her name is Mollie Ann! Mollie is my husband's great great grandmothers name and Ann is my 96-year-old grandma's middle name, my grandma was actually at both of my home birth.

Believe in yourself, you’re capable of amazing things! I truly believe hypnobirthing helped me so much more my third time around and even more so while having her during a pandemic!
