Hypnobirthing Helped Laura During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

    Labour began about twenty minutes after the doctor broke my waters.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

    The unknown is always hard for me. This time around I had the complication of pre-eclampsia to be mindful of and also that induction doesn't always run smoothly. Trusting my body to still do it's job despite the interventions was tricky but rewarding.

    Hypnobirthing!

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    How quick it was. My second was five hours from go to woah. This little man rushed into the world in just over three hours.

  • Find something that will work for you! Research all different ways of doing it and then work on which ever feels the most natural for you.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

    Rocking back and forth and pacing the floor have always helped me. Concentrating on my breath is a big one too.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    On my knees leaning on the bed with my head buried in my arms. Being in entire darkness with nothing to distract me really helped.

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    Amazing!! Oh my he was so little but so very perfect.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

    Find something that will work for you! Research all different ways of doing it and then work on which ever feels the most natural for you.
