When did you realize you were really in labor?
When I woke up in the morning at 6 AM to use the bathroom and noticed a little blood. I immediately thought, "today is the day!"
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I was the most mentally challenged when I learned that there was not a birthing tub available at the hospital we gave birth at. They only had two rooms with birthing tubs and both were taken when I went into labor. I had been banking in the tub being a huge source of relief and I had to do without.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Get a doula! And be prepared with class and books and talking to several friends.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
How meditative it was. My husband would hum with me through each contraction when the contractions got extremely intense. I would match his low tone and it but me into this focused, relaxed and meditative state. From that point on labor went very quick!

On my back. It was the only way I felt I could relax my entire body.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
I was honestly stunned after childbirth. I could hardly belief that this child came from my body. It was surreal and peaceful.

How did the Mama Natural Birth Class help you in your childbirth?
It taught my husband and I a lot about what to expect and provided us with all of our options so that we could dream about the childbirth experience we desired. And our experience was amazing!
