When did you realize you were really in labor?
5am the morning after Thanksgiving, my water broke.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The last contraction right before I started to push was so intense I thought about asking for pain meds but I couldn't even speak due to the level of pain. Luckily i didn't have time to change my mind and request meds because it was time to push!

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Hire a doula, take evening primrose oil (orally), eat 6 dates a day starting at 36 weeks and stay calm and relaxed with an awesome birth playlist and essential oils day of the birth.

What surprised you about your birth?
How quick it was! My labor was 8 hours, start to finish, and I only pushed for 5 minutes! I felt like a million bucks right after!

Do it, it is worth it! The recovery alone is reason enough. You will feel like a superhero and the benefits to you and your baby are so worth it!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Sitting on the yoga ball, and instead of regular breathing my doula had me drop my jaw and say "hoooo" in the deepest voice I could during each contraction.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Relief, disbelief, accomplished, proud, and more love than can be described!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Do it, it is worth it! The recovery alone is reason enough. You will feel like a superhero and the benefits to you and your baby are so worth it!
