When did you realize you were really in labor?
I was induced due to having a blood disorder. So I realized I was labor pretty quickly after starting the pitocin!
Although I had already started fairly consistent contractions and was in the early stages of labor when I was scheduled to be induced.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Being induced, the contractions were extremely intense. The pain of contractions was crazy going from 2-9 cm in a couple hours or less! So getting through each contraction was super challenging.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Hire a birth doula and a postpartum doula. Their help in preparation having a 4 year old and 6 year old was crucial for a successful natural birth, and surviving postpartum!

What surprised you about your birth?
How amazing my husband was and how much I needed him by my side during the hardest moments.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
My birth doula messaged my legs with lavender and oil, which gave me something else to focus on during contractions.
My husband rubbing my body wherever I needed him at the time was helpful too, knowing the support and love was with me when I needed it.

What position did you end up delivering in?
On my back, legs up.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Euphoric! It's such a sense of awe and pure joy and relief (the baby is healthy and is earthside!).
