When did you realize you were really in labor?
1am, I woke up from a dream of having a fire in my belly. Woke up went to the bathroom and started to feel more crampy. Told my husband we should start timing the contractions and they were 3mins apart!

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
With this being my 2nd I knew what was coming and I was really worried about tearing again.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I was planning on having a water birth, and knowing that gravity really helps, I tried to be on my hands and knees as much as possible when I was in the tub. My last labor I was reclining the whole time and it was 10 hours.

What surprised you about your birth?
I had my son in 2.5 hours and my recovery was so much easier.

It is really mind over emotions, and fear will make things go slower and hurt more.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
I really focused on groaning and blowing the pain away. I also welcomed each contraction and talked to it asking it to help bring my baby.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I was reclined in the tub. My midwife wanted me that way so she could monitor me better.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
It was exhilarating and such a relief knowing he was here and labor pains were over.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
It is really mind over emotions, and fear will make things go slower and hurt more.
