When did you realize you were really in labor?
My contractions start lowly and get stronger. I don't really start and stop either, I just go shopping and walk around to get it going!
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
For me, that was not the challenging part. We lost our second daughter in the hospital because of all the labor drugs, so I knew I did not want any of those. I just had to get past the mental work of being scared of losing my son for any reason that I could not control.

Finding the right midwives and doula! My team was amazing! I could not have done it without them.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
I was expecting it to be easy, but he was sunny side up with a nuchal hand. I had to work hard for it, but it was worth every minute of it to be the first to hold my son and he did not need major resuscitation attempts!

It is worth every bit of it! Make sure you trust your team!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
My doula was amazing. She kept me going the whole time and showed my husband how to help as well. Pressure points worked really well for me.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
I did end up on my back because of his positioning.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Amazing!!! I never knew that feeling until this birth which was my third. It was worth all the pain for that very moment holding my happy and healthy son!
