When did you realize you were really in labor?
I had contractions for weeks before delivery...I think I realized this was it when I checked into the hospital at a 4cm, progressed to a 6cm and while taking a shower contractions did not slow down.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Just getting through it was the most difficult. This was my third natural vbac so I knew I could, but it still hurts! Prayer and offering my labor up to God really helped me. My husband was a wonderful support as well.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I always use evening primrose oil....really just prayer and relying on God and my husband got me through.

What surprised you about your birth?
It was so fast! One continuous push was all it took. And, my baby's shoulders got stuck. It was a wonderful sacred experience though and I can honestly say I look forward to my next delivery!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Prayer and a supportive husband or doula. And water! Never underestimate the power of a bath or shower!

What position did you end up delivering in?
I was on my back....the traditional labor position they say to avoid is what y body always wants to do.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Amazing! Indescribable! Awesome!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Believe in yourself. Believe in God. Have a supportive team who knows you can do this, and you will! And it will be the best experience of your life!
