  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

I prayed a lot to get ready for birth. I also drank red raspberry leaf tea.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

It went very fast compared to my first birth. With my first I didn't eat dates, drink raspberry leaf tea, or bounce on the peanut ball. I took advantage of all 3 with this birth and it was only 3 hours from the time contractions started until I was holding my baby- the only pitfall was I had prodromal labor with this birth. My first labor was 24 hours long!

  • All the pain was worth the end result- I felt like a champion!
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Counter-pressure on my back and the abdominal lift and tuck.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    Squatting

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

All the pain was worth the end result- I felt like a champion!

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

It is worth it, you know that you delivered your baby the way nature and God intended. Keep your mind focused and find "your zone."
