When did you realize you were really in labor?
After a lot of Braxton Hicks earlier in the week, I realised it was real when the pain intensified and didn't abate even when I laid down or tried a different activity. I also remembered the pain from the previous labor and it felt very familiar!

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Trusting those people around me to help me through... I live in a foreign country so the language barrier is an issue for me. I relied on husband a lot!

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Reading mama natural website and doing yoga regularly.

What surprised you about your birth?
The pain! I had forgotten how much it hurt.

Prepare yourself well, take care of yourself so you are in good physical condition for the birth and also read up on what to expect but also be ready to go with whatever happens!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Breathing, moving, warm shower and focusing on getting through each contraction so I could have a little rest before the next one came.

What position did you end up delivering in?
I was lying n my left side in a fetal position! She had the cord around her neck and was in an awkward position so the midwife had me lie on my side and it felt quite comfortable.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Absolutely incredible - I didn't know the sex of the baby til she was in my arms and seeing her and holding her was the most moving experience. I had looked forward to meeting her for so long. She was absolutely perfect.
