When did you realize you were really in labor?
I had a scheduled C Section. However that morning I woke up with contractions.
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
The fact that I had all these plans and took a hypnobirthing class and in the end the baby was breech so after trying everything to turn the baby with no success, I had to accept that a C section is what is best for my baby and in the end all that matters is that he is healthy.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Research! I learned about every aspect of pregnancy, labor, birth, post birth and that knowledge helped keep me calm throughout everything. I also took a hypno birthing class. The breathing techniques and the elimination of fears really helped keep me relaxed.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
The part that I feared the most about the C section, the epidural, turned out to be the least of it.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
It was surreal. I thought I would be super emotional and start crying the minute I saw him, but I was totally calm. This moment that I've imagined and anticipated for so long finally happened and it felt like I was dreaming. It hit me gradually though. Every time I held him and looked at him, it was as if nothing else in the world mattered.
