When did you realize you were really in labor?
I thought I was just getting some cramps or Braxton Hicks around 3am but woke up to realize they were regular and 5-6 minutes apart.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
Being in active labor. I felt all my pain very sharply and low in my pelvis. This was my second birth but first natural. The pain of natural contractions were never worse than pain of pitocin contractions!

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Breathing exercises and labor positions.

What surprised you about your birth?
How fast everything moved. I labored 18 hours but only the last hour was hard, active labor.
Also I loved the birthing tub, it seemed to take away all the pain.

Just do it!! I had no option of pain meds and trusted my body 100%. My birth mantra was "Labor is good, my baby is good, God is good"

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Labor dancing, getting on hands and knees, leaning over birthing ball, and lastly, getting into the tub.

What position did you end up delivering in?
On all fours. (Hands and knees in tub)

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Overwhelming of course, but elated that I had just did pushed her out and helped pull her up to my chest! I was in shock.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Just do it!! I had no option of pain meds and trusted my body 100%. My birth mantra was "Labor is good, my baby is good, God is good"
